The Town Clerk is responsible for administrating:
Building Permits
A Building Permit is required for new buildings, additions, and reconstruction projects. Permits are also required for installation of mobile homes, swimming pools, wood stoves (or similar heating unit), chimney inspections and all demolitions. A Building Permit form may be completed and printed online or by calling the Town Clerk at (716) 557-2498. The completed form along with the correct fee may be mailed to the Town Clerk or call the Town Clerk to schedule an appointment. Make checks payable to: Town of Ischua. To prevent a delay in receiving your building permit, please be sure to complete and print the entire form and return with the correct amount due.

Dog Licenses
New York State law requires all dogs four months of age or older be licensed. Proof of spaying/neutering and “current” rabies immunization is required. The license must be renewed each year. If your dog is lost, stolen, dies or you move out of the Town, please notify the Town Clerk’s Office so we can update our records. Make checks payable to: Town of Ischua
Dog License Fees - Spayed/Neutered - $10.00
Unspayed/Unneutered - $15.00
The Dog License Form may be completed and printed online or obtained from the Town Clerk. Mail the completed form along with the correct fee to the Town Clerk or leave in the “drop box slot” in the Town Building.
Notary Services
The Town Clerk is licensed by the State of New York. Proper identification must be provided and the document must be signed in the presence of the Notary Public. Please call or email to set up an appointment.
Marriage Licenses
A blood test is no longer required, but there is a 24-hour waiting period before the license becomes valid; the license remains valid for 60 days. The license is completed at the time of application at the Town Clerk’s Office.

Election and Voting – A Voter Registration Form may be obtained from the Town Clerk’s Office, your local post office, or you may go to the Cattaraugus County Website, under the Board of Elections Department, or the NYS Board of Elections and download a form there.

Handicap Parking Permits
Handicap Parking Permits are issued from your local city, village, or town clerk.
To be eligible for a permit you must live in New York State, but you need NOT be a licensed driver or own a vehicle. You must apply in the locality in which you live. Example: a child with a qualifying disability may receive a permit, to be used when riding as a passenger in ANY vehicle.
You must obtain proof of the disability from a medical doctor (MD), doctor of osteopathy (D)), doctor of podiatric medicine (DPM, licensed in NYS only), or nurse practitioner (NP). There is no fee for a permit. DMV does NOT issue the parking permits.

- Both parties need to be present at the same time to obtain a marriage license
- A driver’s license, birth certificate and/or passport and social security are required for identification
- If either party has been divorced, you must bring ALL divorce papers
- If either party has been married before and your previous spouse is deceased, please bring the death certificate
- The fee is $40.00.
